Welcome to Cocobana Beach Resort

Cocobana Beach Resort was opened December 1992. A remarkable opening as the first Resort on Malapascua Island.

The name Cocobana was inspired by the four words Corals, Coconuts, Bananas and Cabanas.

The Resort is located right in the middle of the snow-white Bounty Beach. Cocobana Beach Resort is jointly operated by Swiss and Philippine management.

The Resort's location is absolutely unique. The fine sandy beach offers plenty of space to relax and sunbathe. An easy slope invites for snorkeling and scuba diving in the lagoon, for adults and kids alike.

On the island there are several beaches that can easily be reached on foot and during your vacation you have plenty of time to discover them. If you just only want to relax during your vacation, then of course the various sandy beaches can also be reached by motorbike taxi or outrigger boat.

The small island Malapascua is located about seven kilometers north-east of Cebu and about 25 kilometers west of Leyte, home to a traditional fishing community of around 3500 people. Surrounded by white sandy beaches, broken up by small rocky outcrops. Tourism is growing in the last few years in Malapascua. The island has a handful of resorts and a couple of dive operators, but for the locals life is as much as it always was. Malapascua Island is also known as Logon Island, named after Barangay Logon, the main village in the southern part of the island.

Malapascua Island is just over 2.5 kilometers long and about one kilometer wide. It takes about 3 hours to walk around the island. You will meet friendly fishing villages and lonely, idyllically situated coves. The locals are interested to meet foreigners and like to find out your name and were you come from. The island is also suitable for families and young children. Not just the shape of this small island reminds of the island of Boracay, also everything else can easily keep up. In fact, on Malapascua Island, everything is somewhat smaller, but the mix is right. That is why Filipinos have begun to call Malapascua Island the "little Boracay".

A fantastic view can be seen from the lighthouse northwest of the island near Guimbitayan.

Bounty Beach Malapascua Island

There are several good restaurants and bars along the Bounty Beach. A terrific view overlooking the Bounty Beach you will get from the ROOFTOP RESTAURANT and BUDDHA BAR in Cocobana Beach Resort. Also enjoy the nice food and all the cold drinks served by our charming bartenders.

There are also a bunch of excellent dive shops in Malapascua Island.

Cocobana Restaurant and Bar has its own WIFI Internet Connection, and it is free for the Cocobana guest.

Sun and fun at Bounty Beach

The snow-white sandy Bounty Beach on Malapascua Island invites everybody to enjoy and relax. Just hang loose on one of our sunchair under a shady Palmtree, getting a nice brown skin. Occasionally take a bath, or swim and snorkel in the cristal clear water. Life can be so beautyfull!

Every Cottage and Room has its own big veranda or balcony! If it's too hot you might stay in the shade on your balcony and enjoy watching the beach life and experience an unforgettable sunset!

In all the dive shops you can rent a snorkeling equipment and explore the coral gardens around the island.

Some sweet snacks or a variety of tropical fresh fruits, like Mangos, Pineapples, Bananas, Oranges or a selection of other seasonal fruits, witch grow on the mainland of Cebu, are also available.
In the morning, with the first banca, a bunch of fruit vendors arrive on the beach in Malapascua. They offer the tourist the fresh fruits, wich they have bought early in the morning from the markets in Bogo or Daan-Bantayan, on the main island.
Also some massage ladies, they so called massagistas, offer the tourist their service on the beach through out the day.

Cocobana Beach Resort offers the guest more activities, such as billiard, table tennis and rowing boats.

During the last few years Malapascua Island has become a Scuba Divers Paradise. Popular by divers are wreck diving and the underwater cave of Gato Island. Especially popular is Shark Point with its famous but rare Thresher and Hammerhead Sharks. At certain times of the year the great Manta Rays may also be encountered there.
In all of the dive shops on the island you can take a PADI diving course.
