Whale Shark and Firefly Watching
The inconspicuous and sleepy coastal town of Donsol in southern Luzon is worldwide famous because of its huge whale sharks, which are up to 18m long and 40 tons! During the months of February to May up to 15 of these mammals hold on here! upstream in the bay of Donsol. Only one boat is allowed per whale shark and not more than six swimmers with snorkeling equipment allowed simultaneously approaching an animal.
In contrast to the Whale Shark Interaction, Firefly watching is possible throughout the whole year. Countless fireflies offer every night an impressive natural spectacle in the mangroves of the Donsol River. The tours last one hour and are held between 6:30 p.m. to 22:00 p.m. at the river bridge.
